to zeezeebo, you probably over mixed the dough, over mixing it will develop the gluten that makes the finish product hard.

she is originally from Italy, that's how she probably pronounces it.
just substitute the raisins and rum with blueberries using the same amount of raisins for the blueberries.
spiced rum is, but you can also buy just plain rum with no spice.
