  • I see our conversation in your Bloomin' SPAM-yun video has not been without effect! A step further, take it, you must! With a history lesson cleverly disguised as a PSA ...well done!
It really looks impressively similar, but the clincher was the frying, so glad you did that! Make a fabulous SPAM-yun as well, I'd think. The other clincher was the gelatin, you're right, though I sometimes see it in Vienna Sausage.

One question remains, do you think this version could possibly match the storage longevity of the canned product? Even with the salt and nitrite... and what of the home vacuum sealer?
But of course, there's the distinct possibility that this stuff is so tasty you don't even have to worry about that for very long :)

  • This looks a lot healthier than canned spam (as much as i love it). frikken amazing Larry!

  • Great video.  I have a bunch of family coming for a week during thanksgiving and I am going to make up a batch of jalapeno spam..............I really enjoy getting your videos and trying out the recipes.........Keep them coming...........

  • Lawd! That homemade Spam looks so good. I would put a serious hurtin' on it. One question, is there a substitute that I could use for the Tender Quick?

  • That was pretty wicked, Larry. I am not a huge fan of canned meats, but I do indulge myself from time to time. I will definitely give this recipe a whirl. It looks like tasty fun.
    Rock On!!! GB
