I made these before but with cubed chicken. It was like a,chicken pot pie in puff pastry.

They don't sell the ready to use crust here in my town, so I use some lumpia skin and I switch the turkey with chicken. It's delicious! Nice video. Bon appetite!!!

Mine was a bit dry out the oven so I made some chicken gravy to go over them… omg I ate two. YUM!

The meat mixture may have been too wet, and made the pastry soggy. You can also preheat the oven tray, so the pastry gets hit with heat as soon as it's put on the tray. This can help crisp the bottom ;)

Absolutely – I recommend dicing the fillets up so they cook evenly and so your puffs aren't too lumpy ;)

Can you use chicken fillet/breast or does it have to minced?

@hikari2183 I've never tried this recipe in a Toaster Oven before, but assuming it can get to the correct temperature, it should bake ok. Give it a go and we'll find out ;)

I made these last night and they were a hit with the family, especially my 4-yr-old son who never wants to eat vegetables. 😀 My only variation was to use beef mince instead of turkey (if anyone is thinking of doing that..you'll definitely want to drain the meat after browning, or it'll be really greasy). I was also able to make 16 puffs with a decent amount of filling – easily enough to feed 4 hungry adults & 2 kids. Anyway, thanks for the great recipe, David!

I've done several different variations of this over the years. Spinach, nutmeg, and feta cheese; ham, mustard, and swiss cheese; pulled roast beef, onions, and carrots; The possibilities are endless. I'm gonna try this one next. I highly recommend the spinach nutmeg and feta version too. It's awesome with a savory yogurt dipping sauce.

@fezan84 I much prefer a gas for both the cooktop and the oven – and will kill to get it back!!!

    October 4, 2016 at 11:10 am

Very nice sir — do you like the gas stove or your electric stove at home? I have an electric stove here and wish I had a gas one — seems like the heat spreads more evenly and can be more easily controlled.

Great recipe yet again. I like the creamed corn. I could see myself adding cheese or something too. Thanks!

    very nice.

if you add spices, it becomes what's called a 'curry puff'.

since i'm a vegetarian, i'll have to dispense with the turkey and use chopped boiled potatoes and mock duck (gluten) instead.
