I've never seen green tomatoes in my local (Ontario, Canada) stores. Can I use ripe, red tomatoes?

Hi!! I'm definitely gonna try this!! How much oil did you use? I'm a new cook, so if you don't really measure it, just give me the closest guess you can– thanks again and I'll keep watching your recipes!

@Wolfe (Larry) – LOL and keep up the good work. I will check out your other videos when I have time. For now, dinner is in progress. C'mon by, but then you're like…er…probably about 500 miles south of here. God bless you, and take care.

Hello Wolfe. Your video is inspiring. Anybody who has never tasted a fried green tomato doesn't know what they're missing. The crunch, the soft and almost gooey inside, the richness and tartness of the unripe tomato. Ahhhhh. I had a couple of big green tomatoes on hand from the garden, and so did a 'test run' this afternoon. I did the flour/salt/pepper thing, dipped in whipped egg and milk, but for the batter I used a combination of Jiffy corn muffin mix, Italian bread crumbs, some celery salt, lots of black pepper, and a little bit of chili powder. Yum, yum! The slight sweetness of that combo kind of balances the tartness of the unripe tomato. So tonight for dinner I'm serving fried green tomatoes, steamed perch fillets, and a spinach salad!
Tom in Michigan (yes, we northerners are also in love with tomatoes any which way, to include the fried green ones) :)TheWolfePit

I soak mine in buttermilk for about 30 mins and use seasoned flour, and I used to use corn meal, my mamaws recipe. Now I use panko. :)

Hey there! Do you have an old timer southern recipe for cornbread dressing? I've been trying to recreate my grandmother's for years, but I'm missing something. Not sure what it is. You nailed my grandmother's fried green tomatoes so I have faith on the cornbread dressing from you, lol.

I bought some green tomatoes at the flea market, I must try making these myself! A few weeks ago a catering company served fried green tomatoe BLT.

if you really want green fried tomatoes, just fry the tomatoes, don't doctor them up with all that other fat, carbs, calories cholesterol ect, just use a little seasoned salt in olive oil.

I am from Guatemala and received green tomates yesterday, so I thought about making green fried tomatoes, I just saw the movie but never made them before. I look in You Tube for a video about how to make them, I saw a couple that did not convinced me, I found your and liked it. So today I made them and they are great I really enjoyed them. Thank you so much for your video. (Fried green tomates is not something that is cooked here in my country)

I haven't had these since I was a kid… my grandmother would pick them fresh from her garden and fry them up to go with breakfast… And this was in Chicago(suburb)
