There are so many problems with diet plans today, and the biggest reason they don’t work is because they are hyper-focused on Weight LOSS. It’s easier than you think to lose weight. I mean anytime you deplete your body of a necessity, it will get lighter. Taking out Carbs, or Fats, or calories, will always promote weight loss. But losing weight in such a way is only temporary and not sustainable. Your body is depleted for goodness sakes, and sooner or later, it’s going to want more nutrients. And, what the body wants, the body will climb mountains to get.

“Getting healthy can be fun and easy and the premise of any new healthy lifestyle is having greens in your diet. Green smoothies are a great way to do it. This is very pertinent information for any kind of naked lifestyle; the Naked Challenge is based on green smoothies. It’s about cleaning your body.

The difference between green smoothie and a green juice is that green smoothie is very fibrous. It has fruits, it’s very filling, and it’s a meal in itself. Green juice is of course meal but you’re going to need a little bit more afterwards. So it’s good to have a green juice before you eat, probably half hour so that the nutrients can absorb into the bloodstream. A green smoothie is actually a meal in itself.

What is a green smoothie? Fruits; we’ve got citrus, pear; we can use apples or mango. To make things easy, you can even have pre-cut berries and pineapple and grapes as a sweet base for your smoothie. And then we put in greens. We’ve got lettuce and cabbage and cucumber and kale and chard and celery and the oh, so beautifying bokchoy – a wonderful addition. Then we have… we can always do green lettuces, romaine lettuce has an amazing amount of protein. Who knew? Parsley, very cleansing for the blood. And of course, sprouts – beautiful pea sprouts or any kind of sprout that is delicious for you.

Now I’ve had a lot of people tell me that they are shying away from doing green smoothies because they don’t have a high-powered four… what is it? Four horsepower Vitamix, Blendtec and they don’t feel they’re going to be able to make smoothies. We’re going to do a little test here and we’re going to make it in a normal high-speed blender and the Vitamix, we’ll make the exact same or similar recipes and see how they come out.

    They look amazing! I never have that much to stuff in my blender at once so it was totally thrilling and inspiring to watch! I have to file for food stamps again but I totally juice and try to drink as many greens as I can to stay healthy and upbeat. As a metaphysical person, too – I/we are so appreciative of all of these natural food videos because it is totally true we are evolving and that this/these are the better diet/eating concepts! So appreciative. Namaste!

    I thought by side by side comparisons meant she was was going to put the exact-same ingredients on both and show they could produce the same result…but I guess "not quite".

    Diana , Thank you for a wonderful "intro" to "Green" smoothies. Recently , I was diagnosed type 2…and well…I have had several wiser friends steer me toward better food consumption and more particularly…Green smoothies. What a fiasco trying to find info. Having little money and zero "extra" capital…well…shorten the story…you cover it….it, being the question…What is a green smoothie !? So, I deduce it is more about live foods, Veggies and fruits than it is about color or specific ingredients. There is no single recipe that is the "Magic Bullet" for health. Thank you for clearing that up even though you did not say exactly that…still I get it ! I saw questions about non organic produce…I hope everyone washes produce ! I seem to recall Jay Kordich…the Father of modern juice fasts…say…USe sea salt and lemon in water to soak all veggies as this will dissolve and "wash" away most pesticides. Thank you Diane !     Yeah I bought a cheaper $20 smoothie maker. So I've been making smoothies for about a week. YES you do get addicted to them. And I found that out too that you can put all the greens you want in.The fruit pretty much kills that flavor .

    trying to compare the uber blender to a normal blender saying you can make a green smoothie in any blender. Then you make a dark fruit smoothie in the regular blender and not a green one >.> terrible job.

    Add a hand full of ice it will give you a nice chill smoothie for the summer. Once you initially blend the first time than add the ice.
