It's been a long time since I watched your videos, it made me tear up a little because I remembered my brother, he was binging on your channel. He passed away almost two years ago.

You've outdone yourself: Great recipe, so simple to put together. Towards the end of the simmering, I tossed in some chickpeas that I had already cooked up. Then I served the curry over rice. For good measure, I put together a 'side dish' of oven-roasted chickpeas mixed with olive oil and garam masala. Thank you!

Thanks for the delicious recipe! I made it last night and it was great. I would reduce the water next time as it turned out more like a curried lentil soup.

Hi David, for those of us who aren't vegan, would the same quantity of cow's milk work as a replacement for the coconut milk?

Love it. I've done a course in cooking Indian foods and I now realize how easy they are.
When talking about the spices used, I would mention the health benefits as well. Particularly Turmeric, it's pretty much a "cure all". I'd add some chilli powder too, but that's just me.

Say one couldn't have coconut (or other nut) milk. What would you use to replace it? Would regular cream work (though it does remove the dairy free label)

No need for "Whoops" @2:00… 400g of (coconut) milk is the same as 400ml of (coconut) milk. That's the beauty of the metric system. : )

i did research on lentils, there is a youtuber who passed away who had a channel and was doing "depression era cooking" yes she was a wonderful old lady. one meal she made was lentils with rice. that spurred me to look into it. and it turned out that if you eat rice with lentils you get complete protein chains…so GOOD MEATLESS MEAL w/ plenty of protein. and tasty like mad!
TY for the great vids and recipes. i just love watching you cook n taste test. you seem a happy sort and it's awesome to see someone enjoy their vittles! (VITTLES=food)

This looks pretty yummy. We just got a big bag of red lentils to try too. (We haven't had them before either.)
One question: Could you substitute real milk for the coconut milk? Would it change the flavour that much? Coconut milk is expensive and hard to get here. (I know it doesn't make it vegan – but . . .we're not vegan, so that's ok. 😉 )

You still have to go through the lentils, looking for tiny rocks and other debris, yes?
