I omitted the onions but added onion powder with the butter for the taste. I hate the texture of onions as weird as that sounds haha. Anyway, I made this last night, and LOVED it. I based a whole grocery list on your videos. Thank you so much! You rock!

Thanks for this great recipe, i have made it about four times now and it always turns out well. Instead of 50gm of butter, i do 25gms plus one tablespoon of olive oil and add garlic and 1/2 cup of wine. Cheers from Adelaide .

I know this might wreck the recipe a little, but is there an alternative to using butter? Just seeking a healthier option…

if the end result is risotto, it doesn't matter how it's made. I'm a chef and we use the absorption method to make risotto. same as what's been done in this video, but with a much larger amount of rice, stock, wine etc. most of the cooking takes place off the stove. after sweating off onions, add garlic and season. add boiling white wine and stock. bring back to boil for thirty seconds, then take it off. You put a teatowel over the top to retain moisture, and then pop the lid on for an hour.

i'm going to try and go on the keto diet to flush out all the sugars in my body. i seriously suspect it's the culprit… we'll see how it goes.

and yeah dude i know that. still onions are VERY difficult to replace :/

Thats very interesting to know, i have never heard of the allergy before. Dont know if it helps you but i know a lot of recipes where onion can be replaced with celery for texture, garlic powder or couple of cloves for the flavour and 1 tsp of sugar to replace that found in onion

  32. R Al

    June 1, 2016 at 7:33 pm

I hate peas, what else would go great with tuna? Carrots, green beans?

  33. Shokodemon

    June 1, 2016 at 7:33 pm

they are chemically identical, so no. the whole cepa* class of the Allium family causes a severe reaction.

garlic to some extent aswell, but it is by far milder in comparison. i suspect it's the type of sugars inside the onion that causes it. garlic has by far a lesser concentration of compound sugars than onion does.

and i assure you, i don't smell of garlic. people are often surprised i eat so much garlic when i do tell them about it. it seems to be my body's chemical trade off.

  34. James Wyatt

    June 1, 2016 at 7:33 pm

That's because the eater is nearly oblivious to their own smell lol. Can you not eat shallots either?

oddly enough i never smell of garlic after eating it, too.
