Yes, American bacon would be what's called streaky bacon. You have to cook it first to render the fat. It looks nothing like what David is using. Not sure if his is more like smoked ham or Canadian bacon. :o)

I made this today. It was amazing! I expected it to be good, but not nearly as good as it was. Considering I spent 20 minutes making it, it was well worth it. Thanks Chef!

@christschool I just bought some diced bacon from the local deli, so I'm not sure what the brand is. Feel free to use some diced ham in its place πŸ˜‰

  25. christschool

    September 8, 2016 at 9:09 am

@OnePotChefShow Google images of Australian Bacon look like what we in the US call Country Ham. Its a thicker, more salty portion of Ham. Can you give me a brand name of the ham you are using so I can google it? I'd like to try your recipe but I want to make sure I'm using similar pork.

  26. christschool

    September 8, 2016 at 9:09 am

@OnePotChefShow Its also a different color.

  27. OnePotChefShow

    September 8, 2016 at 9:09 am

@christschool Australian Bacon is different to US Bacon. Ours is sliced thicker πŸ˜‰

  28. christschool

    September 8, 2016 at 9:09 am

That doesn't look like bacon as we know it here in the US. That looks like what we call Ham.

@llsand75 Yes, you can use a can of tomatoes instead. You could also use some Tomato Paste (puree) if you prefer πŸ˜‰

    September 8, 2016 at 9:09 am

Great recipe as usual. One question : I know that the can of tomato soup is the "secret ingredient" but could i substitute it for a can of tomatoes instead ? ( the tomato soup is not something we find easily or cheaply in Paris )

    September 8, 2016 at 9:09 am
